books
There are a number of books we've read that have opened our minds, soothed our souls and given us tools to take steps to make changes. There are also very valuable books to help understand learning differences, mindset, depression, substance abuse, etc.. One or more of us has read every one of the books on this list and found value in it or it wouldn’t be here. Books with an asterisk (*) were particularly moving to one or both of us.

Just Because
*Plain and Simple by Sue Bender
Wonder why this book is on the list? For one, it’s a really quick read. But mostly it’s here because it’s one of my favorite books and it was probably the first book I read that changed the way I thought about how I think. Autobiographical, a slice of time in Sue Bender’s life describing how she came to change the way she thought after being entranced by Amish quilts and then, remarkably, living with a family in an Amish community.
